Our seniors have made it through a full year of school in Life During COVID. They have worked extra hard this year, and so have their parents. You all definitely deserve some celebration!!!

Remote learning, in-person, hybrid…Some students have thrived, others have struggled, and a lucky few may not have even noticed anything different. However they have handled it, their next step might still look different from what they pictured a couple of years ago.

If you are the parent of a medically complex child, I’m sure you, like I do, feel like, hey, I got this! We know all about patience and flexibility and thinking outside the box and- here’s that word for 2020- pivoting!

But there is still always more to learn. I hope I am applying these skills to more than just my kid. Everyone who cares for him- his teachers, his nurses, his van drivers, his doctors- they have all been adjusting, learning, and pivoting as much as we have, PLUS they are caring for our kids and keeping them healthy and safe and helping them make progress every day, even if it’s just a baby step.

I’ll go a step further…I’m trying so hard to apply these skills to anyone and everyone I interact with throughout the day.

So how are our grads going to apply all of these bonus life lessons in their next chapter? It’s a great time to capture their thoughts, their values, their current selves.

Encourage them to make a note of who they are now and look at that note again in 5 years, 10 years. How did their Senior Year of 2020-2021 guide them through life?

Now is as good a time as any to start keeping track. Journaling doesn’t have to be intimidating or daunting. Just think of it as a way for your grads to get their thoughts down as they come.

Adding photos not only gives all of you a great visual, but also a stronger memory, to represent who they were at the time and how it compares to who they will become.

A personalized journal, with their Cap and Gown photo on the cover, would make a special gift for your grad. I am offering a complimentary notebook with a cover photo to anyone who books a 2021 Graduate Photo Session…stay tuned for the unboxing video when I receive my sample!
